While we talk about Chinese food being exported here, a guy I know just got a contract to export 10 containers of uht milk, 2 containers of confectionary and other assorted food stuff. That add up to 20 containers a week to China. He says it's only the start, the Chinese don't want to eat a lot of Chinese made foods especially what there children eat.
Also a jumbo flies continually between hong kong and Melbourne loaded with fresh milk. Talks are under way to make it into 2 on the route.
I think why we just look at what is imported you would be surprised how much is being exported to Asia. A lot of manufacturers he has spoken to are looking to focus on Asia, as under the duopoly of the supermarkets the are being screwed.
Surprisingly enough aldi is one of biggest food exporters to Asia of Australian produced food products.
