    Molonski,
I have been travelling for most of my life, having lived and worked in numerous countries.I have closely observed counties like Canada and various parts of the US.They have not had to resort to urban infill, and property costs (before the GFC) were considerably less than ours.
Incidentally, I never said urban infill was bad, but it certainly is if it is not properly planned as is the case in many capital cities.
I also didnt say that big blocks ease the problems of society.I am saying that small blocks DONT ease the problems.I am also saying that a country like Australia should not be burdened by the most expensive property prices in the world.Particularly when it is driven by greed, poor planning and bad tax policy.
The urban infill has not produced cheaper housing. It has produced poorer quality housing, and local govt has not added the necessary infrastructure. I have seen things like water pressure drop off every time there is another nearby block subdivided into two. It takes almost everybody in the area to complain before anything is done.
So Molonski old son, you need to do a little homework and see how things actually work, not how the socialist urban planner theorists think it will, or, how the property developers would like it to work.
