Australian blast victim dies

Carnage ... victim Sam Ly was travelling on the No. 30 bus AUSTRALIAN man Sam Ly has died of injuries he suffered in the London terror attacks, Foreign Minister Alexander Downer said today.

Mr Ly, 28, formerly of Melbourne, died in London's National Hospital sometime this afternoon (AEDT).
He is the only Australian fatality and the 54th confirmed death in the terror attacks on three Tube trains and a bus in London on Thursday last week.

Mr Ly was aboard the No 30 bus wrecked by a bomb blast in Tavistock Square in the central city.

He never regained consciousness after the attack in which he suffered serious head injuries.

His father Hi and nephew John flew from Australia last week to be at his bedside, along with his girlfriend Mandy Ha.

Mr Ly had recently returned to London with his girlfriend to work in the city's IT industry
