I knew as soon as I clicked on this thread that it would simply be a vehicle for people to express their political prejudices. It was a vain hope that I would be able to read stuff that would add to or clarify my thinking on what really is one of the biggest issues our politicians will ever have to deal with. And I have serious reservations about the ability of either party to deal competently - their number one priority seems to be the politics of the issue.
