Tracks not the same as 1946. So we can get the manifestation of cyclones roughly in the same area once the MJO passes through but the tracking is a pure timing issue.  The Coral Sea cyclones path being a case in point.

In a roundabout way events in 2020 still manifested against the newspaper clippings from 1946 in previous post for (Tropical Low ) Townsville, Ayr and (Uesi ) for North Eastern New South Wales
    Townsville, Ayr

    Tropical Low

28 January 2020 Persisting thunderstorms associated with the low brought long-lived heavy rainfall throughout much of Gulf Country in northern Queensland, due to the storm's abnormally slow movement. The town of Townsville received over 320 mm (12 inches) of rain, breaking the previous daily rainfall record in the town of 190 mm (7 inches). A apartment building was reported to have "severely flooded" near the same town.[36] A peak 475 mm (18.7 inches) rainfall total was recorded at the Ayr DPI Research Station in northern Queensland, as a result of the low.[37]

    North Eastern New South Wales.

    TC Uesi

12 February 2020 Tropical Cyclone Uesi is forecast to bring large, powerful three-metre swells from Thursday lasting about 13 seconds as it rushes towards Queensland's southern coast and northern New South Wales.
The Bureau of Meteorology said the tropical cyclone would possibly come as close as 600 kilometres to the coast. This would be a similar distance to last year's Cyclone Oma, which crept towards the coastline before turning north-east.
