Interesting your comment re AWB , the truth in fact is that you cannot do business in that part of the world without that type of graft, a cost of doing business as it were.
The AWB graft debacle came about because we were giving the yanks a right touch up on wheat sales to IRAQ so they dobbed us in which is quite funny when you consider they wrote the book on how to graft in that market. The main culprit was Cargill in that instance & the efforts to dismantle our enviable single desk marketing system (something they are doing now to the Canadian wheat board) , going back to Cargill it is worth noting that the AWB after it's demise was bought by ....you guessed it Cargill. Talk to any wheat grower & they will tell you that their biggest headache is not the seasons but uncertain marketing facilities , after the AWB demise commodity traders from the US have been given the whip hand to manipulate grain prices something that was hard to do when we had a single desk.
It would be refreshing if our own Govt went to bat for us in that way & if they need any guidance in how to do it just watch the septics they are past masters at dirty tactics.
