Knowing how secretive the government can be about debt Id say the figure does not include interest payments. As for long term debt Ill bet the govts figure does not include our latest purchase of the US failed stealth aircraft which by the time they are fully functional and delivered will probably be in excess of 20billion. Then there is the long term debt of following the US into all its wars and currently that costs us about 13 billion per year. Thats just some of the debt off the top of my head.
