A few points:
* If the Federal govt confiscated gold, can you imagine how pissed off the state of WA is going to be? Remember offshore investors hold billions of dollars of gold at the state-owned Perth Mint. Secession isn't out of the question.
* A High Court challenge requesting "acquisition on just terms" as mandated by section 51 (xxxi) of the Constitution.

If the Fed govt wants to take my hard money, they can give me the other hard money in return - silver. I'd like to see the Feds come up with that much silver in a hurry!

Would be an interesting challenge in this Keynesian era educating today's judges on the history of money in only a few hours of legal argument.
