Most parts of WA, the nations largest grain producing State, will have recorded 75-100mm of rain for July and more on the forecast, actually raining as I type. And most of this rain has been following through the other southern grain producing States.
This could well shape up to be a record year in terms of overall export revenue from the grains sector by a significant order. I am surprised there isn't more about it in the papers as we will make a big contribution to GDP should this pull off. With all this rain around at the moment the one company doing well is Nufarm. There are a lot of crop protection chemicals hitting the ground with all the weeds and disease rain generally brings. And given yield potentials and likely gross margins, farmers are not skimping on inputs.
And of course there is plenty of nitrogen fertilizer getting pumped into crops with the increased yield potentials.
