    A 200 watt solar panel is one sq metre ie 3 - 4 kg of silicon as the silicon metal has to be processed to polysilicon, power cost is the most important consideration in making components for solar panels and Australia is 10 times more expensive than Asia.

    "1.4 MT of silicon metal are required to produce one (1) MT of polysilicon suitable for crystalline silicon PV"
