The Mother didn't appear on TV on the day of her child's murder. So if there's anything "Creepy" here it's an individual who would be so intrinsically repulsive as to lie about the actions of a Mother on the day of the murder of her child. The notion that her public statements and intended political action over the murder of her child are acts of "self promotion," rather than a civic minded contribution designed to prevent other people enduring the trauma she went through are just as repulsive. Over the last decade around 700 Australians have been murdered in incidents of domestic violence, compared to around 2 in acts of terrorism. As such an individual who has devoted her life to the prevention of domestic violence having endured the suffering of losing her child to this scourge is an entirely appropriate choice for Australian of the Year.
