Well, a please explain why you need a further three month extension letter has been sent to the opponent on Friday, giving him a month to respond.
Given that response deadline coincides with Christmas, from the time the request was submitted until the time the patent office reviews the extension request he will be easily halfway into his requested three month extension.
They should have just rejected the request immediately and given him a week to object.
