Why does the government continue with the farce of thinking they can build Navy Ships & Submarines when the costs keep increasing and the faults keep also increasing.
Everything they have previously built and everything they are building now is a disaster
Of course we can enlarge this to the fighters as well which will never fly the only thing flying is all the money out the window on what is acknowledged world wide as the most expensive flop in aviation ever tried

    ABC News
The Federal Government will put control of the troubled Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD) project out to tender, following a new report revealing the total cost for the three new ships has now blown out to around $9 billion.
The audit into the status of the project has revealed at least an additional $1.2 billion will be required to complete it.
The first of the three ships, HMAS Hobart, was originally due to be delivered last year.
The ship will be floated in Adelaide tomorrow, but extensive fit-out work means it will still be more than a year before it is ready to be deployed.

    The Australian
CONSTRUCTION of the nation’s largest warship has been delayed by seven months as workers battle to fix more than 14,000 minor defects in a fresh setback for the troubled naval shipbuilding industry.
The problems afflicting the $1.5 billion amphibious assault ship HMAS Canberra — the ship Tony Abbott wants to turn into an aircraft carrier — come on top of the well-publicised delays in the $8bn Air Warfare Destroyer program.

    The Local (Germany)
Israel's defence ministry said on Monday that it had a signed a contract worth €430 million to buy four German corvettes.
All of the ships' weapons systems will be produced by Israeli companies, the defence ministry said, with a value of around €163 million.

Do the people in Canberra have a problem with reading, do they have a problem with basic maths.
They not only make the original mistake of ordering stuff from a operation that has failed before but they keep on doing it.

Our defense budget has gone through the roof for a country that we are told is broke, and all these things have to be bought with borrowed money

Yet we have ship builders in WA which are successfully building ships for the USA Navy

Does any of this make sense ?

It proves that we have the skills, but it also proves that building ships in a government controlled shipyard is plain stupid and even transferring the management to a private company is not about to fix anything as the union rules and conditions in the yard are set in concrete
