To extend the pension age to 70 is going to increase liability claims and put more people in the unemployment figures
In general I have no problem in extending the retirement age but it is impossible to just make a decision like that without any other support for those staying in the work force
I know of numerous retired people who would have preferred to continue to work but the government does not give any concessions for their advanced age or financial situation.
As you get older you want to work less not more, but the tax, pension and labor laws seriously disadvantage you if you do so .
The government has to fix these things first and they will see many people volunteer to work longer
You have to give something to get something, just bringing in the jack boot brigade does not work, there are two sides to the story and politicians must start to listen. Labor was on the nose because they were not working for the people, the conservatives could go the same way
