I agree with the selectors,in the past 5 Test Series Steve has averaged 29 against embarassing opposition,where Hayden,Langer,Martyn have averaged 80+
Individually,he is not contributing to the team and Ponting or Gilchrist could have captained the team just as successfully.
When he made 14 a few days ago,he was out 3 times,his footwork is shot and he can`t handle the offcutter.
Martin Love is the perfect replacement for the West Indies.Against the poms this season he has made 500 + runs in 4 innings and they have only got him out once.His footwork is superb,has a great eye and is in career-best form at 28 (9 years younger than Steve Waugh) and is a great slips fielder (to replace Mark Waugh)
