i find it interesting to observe how people make great efforts to convince themselves they are moral & decent

however, if a person is to observe if their face is without blemishes, it is best that they use a mirror to reflect their face in

similarly, it is best to use the guidance of credible moral human beings to reflect our moral/ethical qualities

credible moral/ethical people use a number of criteria to test for moral/ethical credibility

1. prejudice - racism is a form of prejudice thus to be non-racist is a mark of good ethics

2. speech - honest speech is a mark of good ethics

3. actions - nonviolent nonharmful actions are a mark of good ethics, such as not killing, stealing from or sexually exploiting people

4. livelihood - earning a living in a way that does not deliberately harm or exploit others to their detriment

a person may believe they are not racist but they still may earn their living in a very deceptive way, such as selling dodgy shonky useless used cars (or mineral prospects that are similar, that are so "used" they have been drilled a number of times by a number of explorers for not result. although it is well known these prospects are duds, they continue to try to sell them, like a used dodgy shonky car)

many people are mostly moral human beings but when it comes to making money, their morals can slip, greatly, because the temptation to exploit naïve gullible people is simply too great
