Thought you just might be interested in this little story Yak. I'm involved in a small way in the furniture industry. At the moment Oz, and in fact the rest of the "developed" world is being flooded with cheap furniture manufactured in asia. (cheap labour costs etc ) Competion just up the road employed 22 cambodians, no aussies or any other nationality. I guess the owner ( Morrocan) figured they were better workers or maybe cheaper than aussie workers. Anyhow it comes to pass that he's figured that his future is tied to asia. He's sacked all his workers (the 22 cambodians) and now he imports all his furniture from asia. (malaysia & vietnam) This set me thinking t'other day. I wonder just how long it's going to be before we have a reversal of the boat people situation. With all the Oz jobs in manufacturing being exported to asia, I guess all the boat people may soon be fleeing back from whence they came. rs 8)>
