I used to feed the local visitors at my last home in Sydney - mostly bandicoots, but there were a couple of ? who used to arrive each night on foot. They were the cutest couple, but I wasn't sure that they weren't some kind of rat and had a deep feeling that they ought to go. Unfortunately my thoughts were answered and I found one dead on an upstairs balcony and never saw its' mate ever again. I still have no definite idea as to what they were, but they were not rats as the tail was fluffy. Think they were some kind of extremely rare possums, maybe Pygmy possums as pictured below, although my visitors were a bit cuter and full of personality. Assume an owl or similar bird must have caught up with them; dropping one onto the balcony. Have felt guilty over my incorrect thoughts ever since.
