'' A 4 year university course with entry to Engineers Australia.
And post graduate qualifications gained whilst working enabled me to join the AusIMM.''

    uh huh

and that is exactly the difference between job training and a real and classic education.

it's like someone who is licenced to practice medicine - thinking they are a 'Doctor' - they are as far from a Doctor as one can get.

As to job training for Mining - it's why one sees many mining enginners that are about the dumbest sons of bitches on earth ----

they think they're educated, but they haven't done a scratch of history, philosophy, sociology, psychology or if lucky, a bare minimum, which they considered 'pain in the r's'

a mining degree - job trained, come out of uni - head down into a hole and that's it - stuck in a hole never to see the light until retirement

same as many other 'professions' - like pulling teeth and cutting toenails - not an ounce of education in sight
