How did you arrive at this conclusion" 'We now have thousands of 3 bedroom houses with one person living in it.'

I know of a few in Cairns.

My mate's partner lived in a Gov.house, she move in with my mate.

Years later father died, and her mum was living on her own in a 3 bedroom house.

They then built a granny flat at their home and mum moved in freeing up one ,3 bedroom house.

How many Government houses do you think was built back in that time in Australia. I would say thousands.
