"The last survey included questions about household VPN and web proxy use. The results were rather surprising. Twenty per cent of respondents indicated they use either a VPN or a web proxy, or both, to access the internet and download files at home"
Now on it's own and taken from 1,000 people obviously isn't comprehensive, however does add more weight to this article and chart showing Netflix has approx 28% subscriber market in Australia.

"Let’s put this finding side by side with the figure of 200,000 unauthorised Australian Netflix subscribers that was recently mooted. In the context of our study, that figure seems very plausible – in fact, we would suggest it is probably on the low side."
Certainly the evidence is mounting that the 200,000 is very much on the low side, as I've stated previously. Also it's clear that while QFX paying customer numbers have stayed fairly flat over past three years between 100 and 120k, NFLX and VPN popularity is increasing at a considerable rate.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if number of Australian Households subscribing to NLX is between 450-600k.
No wonder Langsford resorted to a whining letter to Hastings. Some sort of desperate final attempt to pull at the heartstrings of Australians. Reminded me of Harvey whining on about online shopping. Whine all you like Langsford, consumers will always go to service that offers best value.
Problem is when NFLX do arrive in Australia its a win win for them. Since they will begin marketing directly in Australia, draw more subscribers to their new Australian service and those who choose to can easily access US content.
Either way they still end up with even more subscribers.
Meanwhile QFX doesn't even have capital to meet current liabilities let alone go on another marketing binge which saw their net loss blow out to 10m
