    Dear reader

There’s no bigger story than nuclear at the moment.

In the past 48 hours our movement has been elevated to the national spotlight and we’re leading the way with bringing facts to the debate.

    Response to Coalition's nuclear announcement

On Wednesday, the coalition announced their nuclear power policy. As expressed in our media release, Nuclear for Australia welcomes the announcement.

Here’s a quick summary of what was announced:

    • 7 sites were selected for the potential of nuclear power stations:
      • Callide, Queensland
      • Tarong, Queensland
      • Liddell, New South Wales
      • Mount Piper, New South Wales
      • Loy Yang, Victoria
      • Port Augusta, South Australia
      • Collie, Western Australia
    • The coalition would initially embark on an establishment project which would comprise of either a fleet of small modular reactors to be ready by 2035 or a fleet of large reactors to be ready by 2037
    • Nuclear power plants would be owned by the Commonwealth and financed by a Government Business Enterprise to be constructed
    • A community benefit package for the local area including energy bill relief and infrastructure.

Unfortunately, the announcement was quickly followed with a resurgence of the fear campaign with the Prime Minister, State Premiers and groups such as the Climate Council, Australian Conservation Foundation and Australian Unions all involved.

Fortunately, Nuclear for Australia was there to respond.

Nuclear for Australia on the national stage

Following the Coalition’s announcement, Nuclear for Australia quickly became the respected national voice for facts on nuclear power.

Our team of the nation’s leading nuclear experts held a press conference at Lucas Heights ANSTO Sydney where they provided commentary on the policy to media in attendance.

This included Dr Adi Paterson, the former CEO of ANSTO, Professor Tony Irwin, Robert Barr and William Shackel.

In addition to our press conference our expert team had over 30 media interviews on the ABC, 10 News, Sky, 4BC, 5AA, The Australian and Daily Telegraph. You can watch some of our interviews on our Youtube.

Our expert group have been the trusted voices to respond to the fear campaign with Adi Paterson featuring on today’s front cover of the Daily Telegraph.

Adi, Tony and Robert explained the case for nuclear power to the Daily Telegraph in this much watch video below. It is a great explainer to share with your friends and family.

Your support has meant that these experts are heard.

Please consider supporting our work today so we can make sure the facts triumph over the fear campaign:

    Gladstone & Callide Visit

Today Nuclear for Australia experts Dr Adi Paterson and Tony Irwin along with founder Will Shackel are visiting the Callide Power Station and Gladstone in Queensland.

We are first campaign on the ground at a potential nuclear site, and are proud to represent the nuclear cause as we engage with local communities across Australia.

Help us get to 100,000 signatures to legalise nuclear

    IMG_0508.gif?1718951553

Help us reach 100,000 signatures for nuclear.

100k would be a huge milestone and signal to the politicians in Canberra that there is huge grassroots support for nuclear power in the Australian community.
