Authorising credit cards

I recently signed up to lotto online for an office syndicate and after 3 weeks it asked me to authorise my credit card - This was as simple as logging into my bank account and then going back the to lotto website and typing in the nominal number that had been applied to my credit card by lotto
My question - is this similar really to what ISX is offering in layman terms ( ive looked at the ISX website)
If so what advantage do we hold?
Long term holder from FUT let alone OTE days so to be honest was not in this stock for the tech side of things and thought all the money was gone 5 times over through out the Journey!
