Fair point on the Ford/ GM forey into Europe. And i do like your point of US raising fuel prices.

I just think that they are unlikely to be able to compete on the cost per unit by labour, so a technoldogical leap is necessary to make it attractive and sustainable, whether it be lithium ion batteries, hydrodgen, hybrids or something else.

The fact of the matter is, is that if the Obama administration wants its automotive industry to survive, it has to have a view that is longer than two presidential terms. The American consumer needs to be re-educated also.
