Automation at Westgold's WA mines nearly complete
Five mine sites in Western Australia's Murchison area are nearly automated, according to an announcement by the vendor for the project, RCT.
RCT announced yesterday that its guidance automation system is installed on 10 of Westgold Resources' underground loader fleet, including CAT R2900Gs and Sandvik LH517 loaders.
David Noort, Executive General Manager – ACM, at Westgold Resources said the changes will improve underground productivity.
"Being able to implement Multiple Machine Selection/Multiple Machine Control is an added advantage as it will support staged growth and specialised applications where geotechnical constraints require a period of standoff before re-entry after blasting," said Noort in a news release.
