it's a good question, but I think the ability to take risk is the weakest link in human driving. if you take that aspect out , it will inherently become a safer driving experience almost eliminating the risk. The manual drivers on the road will be the biggest problem in about 10 years time. and the more autonomous vehicles on the road the more they can interact and communicate with each other. It wouldn't surprise me if the traffic lights became more about registering humans crossing the road rather than cars crossing each other.
