Had a few beers and been on site a few days but I will answer that question.
It comes down to a core business principle, SK's core business with the part AUZ is dealing with is manufacture of batteries they are not miners or have any history in mining. They want the end product.
To start a foreign control of a mining operation in Aust is a big venture with many regulatory hurdles to jump. All companies including mining have core principles, I was involved in the last coal power station built in Aust at Collie for back then BHP Worsley Alumina. We took over design and end of construction when the original designer went broke, BHP refused to buy out the station even though for their refinery they needed the power and steam for their major expansion on the premise of power stations were not their core business.
This happens in many operations with the same statement.
