I'm afraid that the "big boys" are not asleep at the wheel on this one. These are nickel laterite deposits that have been known about since the 1980's.
Just look a little back in history at the huge capital expenditures the majors made and failed with trying to get these type of deposits to work. Ravensthorpe, Murrin Murrin to name several high profile examples.
There is very good reason they have not been mined yet. High capital expenditure with very high metallurgical risk.
When you look at the years the drilling was done that is used to calculate these resources the majority was done in the 80's and 90's.
I'm afraid that the "big boys" are not asleep at the wheel on...
