What have you guys learnt over 2014?
I have learnt stops lose you money on overseas index the spiking takes you out (I feel it is deliberate). What I have tended to do is place a sell or buy away from the current level before the markets open. The resultasnt spike often hits the order so you get a better price. Obviously if the market moves heavily the other way you miss out.
Does it make sense?
Commsec allows this. My stops if used are wide narrow gets closed out in after hours trade. (Not talking about ASx stock shares - just index).
