Hi K good to see you are still around.
You mention old Buffett and whilst we know the folk on the market don’t have that massive wad of start cash to be able to make mistakes quietly, he’s made plenty of them, but way out in front eh.
What stays in my memory most is just post GFC and he takes a massive position on US rail, yes rail lines and rolling stock. Madness the wise men said, the whole sector was Lehman’s like, shorted to death. Add to that the US will never, not ever again move that US tonnage ever! again no matter who owned it, the maintenance costs alone were whew! You could say hard to GIVE away! But he buys it and big time, in 4 short years he is the miracle of Omaha again. Imagine how much he could have been helped had he logged onto Hot Copper America and scanned the posts on what existing holders of rail thought before he bought.
Just worth a thought, few are cut out for this sort of investing, have a good look at yourself and your own makeup before you fire shots at some people who think they know what they are doing, I think I know what I am doing, it not ego or smugness, gee if it was I would have ditched this lark years ago, I have passion for things, if I get it wrong so be it.
Cheers, I know you follow what I am saying.
