The only time I have averaged down was in my youth with 12 months silver futures when silver was at about $4. I told the broker I'm not worrying about it going down I willl buy in at 2 more places and average down. But I intend to settle and take possession! The broker couldn't believe me. "You actually want to settle?"
"Yes" I replied - I see it at simply buying bullion silver on installments. I figure I cant lose at this crazy price."
Anyway - the silver went up soon after the first average down stage and with the profit I bought a run down house and renovated it. The value of the house skyrocketed and silver eventually went back down. I'm not sure if there is a moral of the story - I have a love for silver on its lows and a love for real estate on its lows.
