I think your post applies more to those who held all the way down from 7 cents.Do the maths on it.
ps AVL hasn't been sold off due to the options. It's been sold off because there just aren't enough interested buyers at higher prices. When it reached value you will see strong buying. Until then....
Patience is gold and that applies to waiting to buy at a cheap price. Not being patient to hold onto a spiralling south share price!
