Interesting points, and in a perfect world, we should ALWAYS prioritise those in the country that these resources are extracted from.

Vanadium, oil, gas, nickel, scandium, lithium, tin , agricultural outputs, potash, etc...etc...

Unfortunately, past governments have enabled companies to export to the highest bidder, with no allowance made to enrich the communities in which the resources originated.
We have been sold down the creek, with OTHERS benefitting from our wealth of resources

Please, however, don't class the US as an ally.
We are nothing more than a relationship of convenience. If things get tough, don't count of any support.

The Ukraine has already shown that, in full colour.
