The puzzle starts just over a year back, on 25/05/24, when submissions closed for EOI for a sub-lease of around 134 hectares of land southeast of Kalgoorlie airport.….

I can’t find any further reference to this project.
And the EOI was only open for just over a month.
And that month was before the Horizon battery had even finished factory testing last September (https://esdnews.com.au/horizon-powers-vanadium-flow-battery-passes-factory-tests/#:~:text=Horizon Power's vanadium flow battery,process and is operating successfully.), and well before it was installed in Kununurra last November.
Also well before AVL’s battery boffin Dr Yifeng Li joined the company last June https://www.aumanufacturing.com.au/manufacturing-news-briefs-stories-you-might-have-missed-454)

… And of course it was long, long before Premier Roger Cook first pledged $150m towards the Kalgoorlie VFB  on 30/01/25 (https://www.kalminer.com.au/news/re...ium-battery-for-kalgoorlie-boulder-c-17556658)
