Another article about lithium battery fires. Flow batteries will become very popular soon. China has just hooked them up to their solar farm (worlds largest).
Everyone talks about the upfront costs of vanadium flow batteries, but in a grid setting like a solar farm, the cost of not needing fire retardation has to be factored in as well. In a bank of lithium batteries those systems come at a considerable cost, as well as ongoing training, maintensive, review of plans etc. with a non flammable liquid-based VFB you avoid all of that
