Something like this as a typical battery grid of the future?
VRB industry all talking about 'the mix' and I think (for now) the best control is isolation to lessen the catastrophic outcomes of a Li-BESS fire. As @LewisB mentioned, the fire mitigation costs are lessened but more importantly the power grid still has a stable 'back-up' in the VRBs at the same BESS.
Fast forward ~20yrs when the Li batteries are underperforming (and the V are still as good as the day they were commissioned) they'll be replaced by VRBs as a no-brainer.
