I was talking to a guy who works at a mine in the goldfields near Kalgoorlie the other day. His job is to maintain and service all the diesel water pumps that feed water through a network of bores to the mine. He said that the mine that he worked at had approximately 50-60 diesel generators actively pumping. Average cost per generator was $50k-$70k and some of the larger ones $250k!!
I wonder if Vince could partner up with one of these water pump manufacturers and create a pump powered by our new small scale VRB's? This guy was basically getting paid $120k/year for checking oil and filling up the diesel tanks every 2 days. I'm sure that mining companies would be open to these advances too. The maintenance would be far less, the cost would be less and their emissions would be less too.
