Thanks Stone Pony. It's also worth comparing AVM with Mawson West (MWE), now the operator of the Dikulushi mine, and Tiger Resources (TGS), as well as First Quantum (FM) - all listd on the TSX, and all copper miners in the DRC part of the Copper Belt. They have all taken a bit of a dip recently.
I've been watching comments by the big miners, mainly RIO and BHP. They seem to be predicting volatility in commodity prices in the short term, but continued strong demand in the longer term. (Jan Du Plesis, Chairman of RIO, and Marius Kloppers, CEO of BHP). I think we need to recognise that these smaller miners like AVM are more volatile and we need to take the dips with the big rises.
If we get a pick up in copper prices at the same time as a faster than expected ramp up in production capacity from the SX/EW plant, then AVM may surprise even more on the upside as sentiment swings the other way on commodities.
