Gold explorer Avoca Resources Ltd has increased resources more than threefold at its Athena deposit in Western Australia, taking the project past the million-ounce mark.

The 320 per cent increase in the Athena resource to 343,000 ounces grading 11.1 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, increased the total resources at the Higginsville project to 1.1 million ounces at 4.0g/t.

A feasibility study at the project is due for completion at the end of August with Avoca confident it will move the mine into production.
