Given the increased shorts over the last few days, the people taking short positions will hoping that the fear mongering and negative sentiment continues so they can continue to sell down and buy back in at the lows. If things should turn around and prices start to retrace up, there will a mad scramble as the shorters get stopped out.
I don't know if the price will go up or down, the moral of the story here is don't get conned either way if you can avoid it
