I reckon people underestimate the amount of ultra short termers who are in and out multiple times a day attempting to scrape a few pips here and there. Hard work for not much return if you ask me but each to there own I guess.
The thing is pip trading artificially inflates the Daily volume dramatically. Leading investors to think big money is moving in and out when in reality its just the same shares recycled many time during a day by same group of traders. AVZ is ideal as its liquid easily moves a few pips either way and a lot of retailers who spook easily and talked about a lot on social media.
All is IMHO of Course but you well see patterns in volume if you look hard enough I reckon see clusters of volume in chart below.
