Don't mention 293, please, or I'll get a bile attack.
I paid the 15% superannuation surcharge for the entire period it was in force, ie paid 30% tax on super contributions on the way in.
And guess what, labor wants to introduce a 15% withdrawal tax.
So to understand this, 30 in and 15 out, to explain that a 45% flat tax on super.
You think yeah right, so what.
In comes labor next move, sorry we know you paid your taxes, but guess what, we have got a surprise, you are not entitled to your franking credits, we hope you don't mind.
A company you invest in, pays tax at the company tax rate of 30% on your behalf, you are a share owner of that company, but because you are a self supporting retired person relying on your dividends of your super investments, which in retirement are supposed to be tax free, guess what FY, we know a new way to reduce your income by another almost 43%. You are supposed support the community....
From what? The barrel is almost empty.
I'm better off going to the casino, blow the lot and apply for a pension!
And here comes Covid 19...... Shares suffer a 30% decline, right.... sorry the banks are not allowed to pay a dividend, people with mortgages have a moratorium on their repayments, we expect you to support the economy, I hope you don't mind.
I was a labor/socialist voter all my life, however started throwing darts at anything labor, or starting with an L.
I have come to the conclusion that the current labor party is an extended leg of the union leeches, who are not looking after their members, but after themselves.
They do not adhere to labor principles, but feather their own nest.
So section 293... up yours!
