I am no expert but from my reading it's not an equipment rejig as such it's a fine tune of the chemistry set, reagent concentrations, temperature regulation, precipitation timing etc. all specific to the particular mined product, hence the long time frames required to 'qualify' the raw materials to suit the converter.
