AVZ posters, I decided it might be good to bump this thread, and give you a little food for thought.
This is the content of an email I frequently have to send out for many stock codes where members start bickering.
It may, or may not be relevant, but certainly it's worth you reading.
It may also serve as a warning that if you're found 'rubbishing' HotCopper on other platforms, your account here is going to be suspended. We don't need it.
I do know that section is relevant here, as at least one member is already suspended for their contributions elsewhere.
We provide a free forum for members, with good and strong moderation rather than allow it to turn into a cess pit. If you don't want to accept that, then it is always your own choice.
Please take care, both sides not to repetitively spam, or post on either side of the coin.
This is the email sent at times:
We have no problem with people having accounts on several forums, but we don't need to read defamatory comments about HotCopper from you on them.
Other members who DO understand more about how we are run, and why we are where we are in the forum world are often sending in pieces that they believe we'd be interested in.
Note that mostly, members who are suspended are going to moan, and they are not going to write the truth about how or why they were suspended. They haven't been able to post by our guidelines or rules.
Most people don’t really understand a thing about how moderation works, so with a team of 13 mods, (who don't read your emails or see your personal information) working behind the scenes, you can be absolutely sure that BOTH holders and non holders believe the mod is working for 'the other side' of the story. Same as the umpire is always on the other teams side! It's human nature.
Moderations are made according to the guidelines to keep a tidy house.
Both sides of any story are always encouraged, but members can't bash each other, or bash the moderators, especially when they have no idea how the work load is carried out, and double checked.
