Well in the early 1900's the belgians probably used slave labour... I don't know ... but 100 years on and companies pay the folk that work for them at the prevail rate for that level of skill in that country that they are in. DRC unskilled labour is plentiful and cheap relative to say a western country like Australia ... To make the point that the mine was established very early on with slave labour is really a poor line of argument and has no bearing on today.

There are plenty of miners in the DRC operating and export right now for Cobalt, copper Gold etc who have established mines and transport corridors without slave labour and they still got the project up and running just fine and by all accounts are very profitable. .
