Lubumbashi-Lithium: 18 NGOs advocate for a good business climate

Eighteen NGOs and civil society platforms focused on the Manono Lithium issue on Tuesday in Lubumbashi. They recommend the preservation of a good business climate. They expressed this in a press release published on 31 May 2022.
Indeed, on May 6, the Minister of Mines Mrs. Antoinette N'samba Kalambay signed the operating permit of DATHCOM MINING SAS for its joint venture project of the exploitation of Lithium of Manono. But since then, there has been a commotion for the acquisition of shares in this project. This is the case of ZIJIN which bought 15% of Cominière's shares in the joint venture. And this "in violation of the laws of the Republic". Criticize the NGOs and platforms that signed the communiqué.

DATHCOM MINING SAS the only one to have made a geological study

For Civil Society Organizations and Platforms, this unrest is likely to jeopardize the business climate. Because DATHCOM MINING SAS has made sufficient progress on the file. "The signatories remind everyone that Civil Society is very well informed that to date, only DATHCOM MINING SAS has carried out geological studies. And it is with the support of the engineers of La Cominière, a public company of the State and partner of the joint venture".
Thus, they appeal to the Head of State. "Guardian of the mining interests of the population so that no official, use influence peddling, nor 'be in conflict of interest about Monono Lithium's". They say in the same statement.
Note that among the signatory organizations, there is the Network of Environmental Communicators (RCEN), Lubumbashi. We also note the Platform of Civil Society Organizations working in the Mining sector (POM and LICOCO to name but a few.

Recall that the Lithium of Manono is a deposit of 6.6 million tons. Thanks to this reserve, the DRC should rank 2nd among the countries holding this resource, just after Chile (7 million tons of reserve).
