Comprehension is not your strong suit. Tom tried for years to find the deposit. He ran out of money and then farmed it out keeping as much as he could.
He now has the key to finding the deposits, 100% hit rate.
He can now use that to create value elsewhere instead of sitting on his hands. Why wouldn't he?
