The Stormy Prospector

On Somerset Island, in the Arctic night
A lone prospector drills for the elusive chalcocite
The Mother Lode, lying deep in the mineralisation Zone
A dream of riches, a fortune untold
Made possible from shareholders around the globe
But time is running out, the Storm is near

The ice is cracking, the snow is drear
The prospector drills, his heart it pounds
Probing and penetrating, this well-funded pursuit
He knows he's close after all the geophysical work

The drill bit screams, the rock it tears
The core it takes, the hole it flares
Deep down into the frozen earth it bores
The dark, the cold, the endless sedimentary floors

The drill bit stops, the core is released
The pounding and prodding unearthing a sensational result
The prospector screams, his heart it stalls
He turns and sees, an object of splendour
An iridescence coppery core

The fine grain minerals, so pure and bright
It sits before him, in the still of an Arctic night
The prospector screams in admiration of its natural beauty
A feast for the eyes, a chalcocite delight
The XRF reading is beyond anyone’s understanding
For this gift from the gods, is an arctic treasure

The prospector stands, alone and cold
He knows he's hit the “Mother Lode”
The dream he's chased for all his soul
Storm’s earthly secret is now disclosed
