And a reminder from the Jan 28th,2010 Ann:
Potential High Grade Targets
A recent academic paper on the McArthur River (HYC) deposit, located 17km to the north-east of
Myrtle, identified three mineralised facies, viz. pyritic siltstones, nodular carbonate, and laminated
sphaleritic siltstones. These are shown diagrammatically in Figures 4a and 4b. The highest grade
(>14% Zn+Pb) mineralisation (that being mined at McArthur River), occurs in the central laminated
sphaleritic siltstone facies which is located in the deepest part of the basin. Grades in the nodular
carbonate zone are lower (5?7% Zn+Pb), and characterised by carbonate nodules.
Comparison of this model with Myrtle suggests that most of the drilling so far undertaken at Myrtle is
within the nodular carbonate facies. Based on the observed thickening of the mineralised dolomitic
siltstone, pyritic layer and sulphide lenses (Figure 2), and the trend in grade increasing to the northwest,
the potential for a higher grade zone, similar to the laminated sphaleritic siltstone at McArthur
River, has been identified to the north-west of the current drilling at the Main Zone (viz. holes MY 17
and 20). There is also potential for a similar situation down dip from the recent drilling at the Eastern
Zone (Figure 1).
Exploration of these areas would target the very high grades characteristic of the world class
McArthur River deposit. The size dimensions (1 x 2km) of these targets at Myrtle are similar to the
size of the McArthur River deposit. Plans for this investigation are now being formulated, including
geophysics and deeper drilling.
The upcoming drilling schedule by Teck should highlight this you would think....
