AWE: Three major shale sequences of up to 300m thick are being targeted by AWE ?C the ubiquitous Kockatea
Shale, the Carynginia Formation and the Irwin River Coal Measures.

NWE: The drill data clearly indicates that three shale sequences (the Kockatea Shale, the Carynginia Formation and the Irwin Coal Measures)that underlie the basin exist in EP413. Furthermore, the shale is up to 1,000 meters thick in some areas of EP413.


AWE: The shale quality appears to be comparable with the successful as shales of North America.


USA: With 32.8 trillion cubic feet (tcf) of proven
shale gas reserves, and one 8800sq km area of shale deposits in Louisiana estimated to contain up to 245 tcf of gas, the USA had enough supply to meet all of it's energy needs for 12 years.


BP: BP had purchased nearly 365 sq. km of shale gas lands in the Arkoma Basin in Oklahoma from shale gas giant Chesapeake Energy for $1.9 billion.
